Dr. Katakkar specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood diseases such as anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia and lymphoma. Hematologist Oncologists are also trained in the study of cancer and its attack on other organs.I have practised for47 years in internal medicine, hematology and oncology. And I have been member of American Geriatric society (AGS)for40 years. Lataely I have been a reviewer of abstracts for AGS and Society of immunotherapy of cancer. I have 51 presentations in the abstract form or paper publications in hematology oncology.My pioneering work has been in immune thrombocytopenia in terms of use of cyclosporine and in pure red cell aplasia where use of IgG as a blocking antibody. Besides use of erythropoetin in newborns with pyruvate kinase deficency with hemolytic anemia and hepatic insuffieciency. I am a physician by heart and its in my blood to take care of patient as whole not just the disease.
