Get to know Nephrologist  Dr. Francis J. Amede, who serves patients in Houston, Texas

A board-certified nephrologist, Dr. Amede sees patients at Elijah Medical Clinic in Houston, Texas. He is also affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare. Dr. Amede is licensed to practice in North Carolina, California, Ohio, New Mexico, Massachusetts, and Texas.

Dr. Amede acquired his medical degree in 1991 at St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School (1994 – 1997), followed by his fellowship in nephrology at Lenox Hill Hospital (1997 – 1999). He further conducted a fellowship in critical care medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (2000 – 2001). 

Subsequent to his education, Dr. Amede attained board certification in internal medicine, nephrology, and critical care medicine through the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (NBPAS) is committed to providing continuing board certification for both MDs and DOs that reduces physician burden and increases time for patient care, while upholding the highest standards of continuing medical education and lifelong learning.

Nephrology is a specialty of adult internal medicine and pediatric medicine that concerns the study of the kidneys, specifically normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy.
