With over forty years of experience in the healthcare field, Dr. Walk is a board certified family medicine physician who has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field of family medicine. She is currently the Medical Director of West Holt Medical Services in Atinskon, Nebraska, which is a 17-bed critical access hospital and rural health clinic offering 24-hour access to inpatient and emergency services. With approximately 90 employees on staff, West Holt Medical Services provides comprehensive community-based healthcare to a population of more than 10,000 area residents in North Central Nebraska.
Dr. Walk is the Founder of Hope International Services, which is a nonprofit organization promoting Christian missionary endeavors worldwide. As Executive Director of the organization, she conducts international radio ministry events and lectures on third world health care needs. Hope International Services has built hospitals in Bangladesh and Nigeria, as well as orphanages in Africa, thus far.
Naturally philanthropic, Dr. Walk oversees a team of volunteers who travel to various parts of the world to help underprivileged countries and people. They focus on areas of impoverished countries which are often overlooked by larger nonprofit organizations.
Dr. Walk is a member of the Nebraska Academy Foundation, the Christian Medical Dental Association, and the Nebraska Medical Association. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Walk is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, which is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. Dr. Walk has authored two books. She has published articles in many magazines and her poetry has been published in eight books.
Dr. Walk earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in general science and christianity from Dana College. She then went on to earn her medical degree, a fellowship in obstetrics, and a fellowship in oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She also earned an honorary Doctor of Theology degree from the University of Nigeria, Golden Gate University, and Trinity College of the Ministerial Arts, Nigeria.
Throughout her impressive career, Dr. Walk has earned many awards. She is the recipient of the Humanitarian Award by the American Academy of Family Practice. She is also a two-time recipient of America’s Top Family Doctors award, and a recipient of the Nebraska Family Physician of the Year award. Additionally, her unparalleled success has been recognized by Worldwide Who’s Who, Who’s Who Among American Executives, and The World’s Who’s Who of Women – among others.
Understanding the importance of business relationships and networking, Dr. Walk has devoted her time to industry and community-related affiliations. She serves as a Senior Delegate for the National Academy of Family Practice, where she previous reigned as president, vice president, board member, and treasurer. She also serves on the Church Council and Board of Directors at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
