Teaching and speaking
I am currently heavily involved with surgical teaching for medical students who study through the University of Newcastle, NSW.
I completed a Fellowship in Trauma and General Surgery at Royal Darwin Hospital through the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) in 2012. This centre functions as part of the Australian Government's response to disaster and emergency incidents of national and international significance. During my Fellowship and from that time I have been involved with teaching courses through the NCCTRC. These courses include a range of national and internally recognised programs, including Australian Medical Assistance Team Training.
I have an interest in Trauma and trauma-related injuries and have expanded this interest with my work at the Hunter New England Simulation Centre, one of the longest running simulation centres in Australia. I am involved in teaching of both clinical and non-clinical skills during challenges based on theatre team enviornments.
