Get to know Neurologist Dr. Wael Richeh, who serves patients in San Angelo, Texas.

Dr. Richeh, a board-certified neurologist, practices at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas. He devotes his clinical practice and research efforts to the diagnosis and treatment of the neurological system disorders, including multiple sclerosis, headaches, epilepsy, Parkinsonism, dementia, gait abnormalities tremors, neuro-immunology, neuro-oncology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuro-radiology, strokes, and neuro-rehabilitation. 

As a part of Shannon Health, Shannon Medical Center has been serving the Concho Valley and surrounding region for more than 80 years, growing with the community and serving its healthcare needs. The facility is licensed for 400 beds and provides a variety of clinical services to meet each patient’s needs. It is the designated Level III Lead Trauma facility for the region, has a nationally recognized intensive care unit, provides critical care to newborns as young as 28 weeks gestation, performs state-of-the-art diagnostics in the radiology department, and provides complete testing and surgical capabilities for cardiology patients, among many more services.

Back in 2002, Dr. Richeh earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of Damascus University in Syria. He then went on to complete his residency in neurology at Pitie-Salpetriere University Hospital in Paris, France. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in neurology and his fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. 

Following his training, the doctor became board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, which is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. His research interests include multiple sclerosis and neuro-immunology.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
