About

Dr. Amar Munsiff is an internist practicing in Pittsford, NY, with a focus on Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Utilization Review, Patient Status, and Continuing Medical Education.

Dr. Munsiff has served in leadership positions in Hospital Medicine for over 25 years, ranging from Vice President of Medical Affairs for Hospitals to Chairman of HIV Division to Medical Director, with a focus on program turn-around and establishing new programs and integrating systems of care, while minimizing physician moral injury leading to "burn-out."

He has successfully applied those insights to developing feasible processes for correctly designating Observation or Inpatient status for hospitalized patients: with a recent publication of outcomes of improving Status & Observation Accuracy at 7 US hospitals.   This is the only peer-reviewed publication on implementation of a bundle of educational and operational interventions leading to an improvement in documentation leading to  greater hospital revenue.

He completed his undergraduate training at Columbia College in NYC, and then spent 9 years in basic science research in Neuroscience.  He earned a Masters in Neuroscience at NYU in the mathematical basis of primary visual cortical processing.  He attended NY Medical College, completed residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore and Albert Einstein Medical Center in NY.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Medicine, and has 30 years of unblemished patient-care experience to supplement his administrative career.
