Get to know Podiatric Surgeon Dr. Kimia Sohrabi, who serves patients in Florida.
Dr. Sohrabi is a fellowship-trained reconstructive foot and ankle surgeon with Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida. Namely, she is affiliated with Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola.
Striving to provide personalized, comprehensive care to patients of all ages, she has a special interest in providing care for sports injuries, fractures, sprains, arthritis, joint pain, cartilage defects, osteoclastic, Charcot reconstruction, revision surgery, limb preservation, and limb salvage.
At the age of 18, Dr. Sohrabi moved to the United States from Canada to pursue a career in the medical field. She attended the University of Maryland in Baltimore County because of its commitment to diversity, research opportunities, and excellence in academia.
Her background in track, soccer, and competitive ballroom dancing led her to a career in podiatric medicine and surgery. She attended the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, graduating with honors with her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree.
During her residency at St. Joseph Mercy in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Sohrabi had the privilege of working with foot and ankle trained orthopedic and podiatric surgeons. She performed cases in foot and ankle surgery, focusing on trauma, arthroscopy, sports medicine, deformity correction, and elective surgery at level one and two trauma centers. She is particularly proud to have been the first assist on the first total talus replacement in the greater Detroit area.
From there, Dr. Sohrabi went on to perform her fellowship in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery within the Department of Orthopedics, Podiatric Division at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Zgonis. Her training focused on podoplastics, flap closure, limb salvage, deformity correction, and Charcot reconstruction utilizing external fixation.
An Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (AACFAS), the doctor is board-certified in foot surgery & reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). The ABFAS is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the public interest by promoting excellence in the art and science of podiatric surgery through certification.
Prior to joining Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart, Dr. Sohrabi spent time in Texas working as clinical faculty at two distinguished surgical residency programs in the country.
As a surgeon, her greatest joy is to watch her patients walk again.
