About

Wilson Ruiz has been gaining exposure in the Field of Dentistry since the summer of 2017. Previously, he has held positions such as a sterilization technician, schedule coordinator, and a dental assistant. Mr. Ruiz is currently assisting and sterilizing dental instruments at HammerLee Dental Care, which is a multidoctor practice speacilizing in the oral hygiene and restorations of local patients while also managing patient care and schedule managing.

Mr. Ruiz graduated from The Pennsylvania State University, winter of 2023 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology B.S. and Minor studies in English and Chemistry. Ruiz was very involved and active in his time at PennState and managed to start numerous clubs on campus ranging from a Predental Club to MEDLife club, where fundraising and volunteer work benefitted the medicine, education and, development of indiviuals impacted from low income communities ranging from South America to Africa. Ultimately, this aided and helped the rebirth of campus life after the Sars-Cov-2-Covid-19 pandemic.


Mr. Ruiz was chosen out of many to present his research project on "The Effects of Anonymity in the Expression of Empathy through Bystander Behavior and Online Social Media Interactions", at the 2022 Sigma Xi conference. The advancements and skills gained throughout my years, thus far, have led him to excel in education and in the field of dentistry as Mr. Ruiz intends to further his education in this field of dentistry.

---The Effects of Anonymity in the Expression of Empathy through Bystander Behavior and Online Social Media Interactions --

Previous research has indicated that there was an increase in cyberbullying since the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic. This has expidited the change towards an online education. In an effort to better understand the role that empathy plays on cyberbullying, this study was conducted to determine if online anonymity and empathy are correlated. In order to clarify this relationship, researchers analysed survey responses measuring bystander behaviour in three levels of anonymity (personal, public and in-person), while accounting for baseline empathy.
