He has one of the busiest clinical practices in the country, performing nearly 300 minimally invasive spine surgeries annually.

Serving as Research Director of the Spine Service at HSS, his major research interests include outcomes related to minimally invasive spine surgery, cost-effectiveness and value of spinal surgery procedures, and comparative effectiveness of various treatments of spinal pathology. Prior to joining HSS, he served as the Chief of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and the Associate Director of the Spine Center at The Mount Sinai Hospital

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine in 2002. While in medical school, he also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Health Administration. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, after which he advanced training in complex spine surgery under Dr. Henry Bohlman in Cleveland, Ohio. Additionally, He completed the Cervical Spine Research Society’s Traveling Fellowship.

With a commitment to excellence, Dr. Qureshi is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, the Minimally Invasive Spine Study Group, the Cervical Spine Research Society, the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, the North American Spine Society, and the Lumbar Spine Research Society.

An acclaimed speaker and educator, Dr. Qureshi has given over 100 invited lectures around the world. He has also contributed his surgical videos for surgeon education around the world and has authored over 100 articles, book chapters, and textbooks.

Training fellows nationally and internationally, he has spine surgeons who have visited his operating room to learn the newest techniques in minimally invasive spine surgery from China, Korea, Japan, Australia, England, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, and India. He also helps design innovative surgical technology with the leading spinal implant companies in the world.
