Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Andrea S. Buck, who serves patients in New Jersey.

A reputable professional in the field of dermatology, Dr. Buck is the Founder of Burlington County Dermatology, an aesthetics, laser and skin care center with offices in Sewell and Medford, New Jersey.

With a patient-first, whole-person approach to skin care, she has always prided herself on ‘going the extra mile’ for all of her patients. She treats any and all conditions of the skin, hair and nails, and treats all patients from birth to centurions and all ethnicities.

“My staff and I will always go above and beyond to make sure every single patient receives the best care that we can deliver. I consider myself to be a ‘soulful’ dermatologist who always has the patients’ best interests at heart. I am the doctor who is also a patient, so I am extremely compassionate for everyone who sits on my exam table. My mantra is, ‘I hate getting pain, so I will do everything in my power not to give any pain.’ I am very proactive and aggressive when treating skin disorders and growths. I have a two-week rule: If a growth or lesion is new or it changes and it does not go away in two weeks, come see me. ‘If in doubt, check it out’” stated Dr. Buck.

During her well over 30 years in the healthcare profession, she has developed a mission statement that says, ‘To empower all patients to value their inner beauty above all else,’ and her first core value is ‘Care Without Compromise’. She is mindful of her patients’ finances, and she does not practice from the pocket, but rather from the heart. She also works with several specialty pharmacies that will often fill very expensive, non-covered medications with minimal or no co-pays.

Noted for her expertise, Dr. Buck has several treatment-oriented trademarks, including the “Bother Scale,” “Perma-Rid” for the permanent, non-scarring treatment of annoying warts, “Delitique” for the painless injection of Botox and others. Her diagnostic abilities are close to 99%, which has been tracked with a log book since she first opened her practice. And while most issues of the skin are non-life-threatening, she prides herself on the earliest detection of all types of skin cancer, especially melanomas – which are potentially lethal. Further, she prides herself on aggressively treating the multitude of troublesome and often annoying skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, itchy rashes such as eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, actinic keratosis, dry skin and many others.

Over the years, Dr. Buck has found that she could not adequately treat some of the common skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and eczema with prescriptions (which have become outrageously expensive) and over-the-counter products. She also found that treating photodamaged and aged skin requires great care. She carries a variety of excellent, cost-effective, “medical-grade” skin care products and sunblocks, which she always samples (out of her own pocket) to make sure that her patients and their skin like these products. These products come from a variety of different reputable, excellent leaders in the dermatologic field.

Coming from humble beginnings, Dr. Buck was born and raised in Pennsauken, New Jersey. She attended the University of Delaware, where she graduated first in her class in 1979. She practiced as a licensed physical therapist until 1982, when she entered the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and also graduated first in her class in 1987. She states, “It wasn’t enough to just become a doctor. It was imperative to learn everything I possibly could and be the best doctor I could possibly be because I knew I would be taking care of other human beings, a responsibility I take very seriously.”

While at PCOM, she won numerous awards and was inducted in Phi Kappa Phi, which is the national honor medical society for all medical school graduates.

She then became the chief intern at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. After completing her internship, she practiced family/internal medicine for four years before returning to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Graduate Health Care System for her residency in dermatology. Her training took place at the best hospitals in the New Jersey-Philadelphia areas, including Cooper Medical Center, Jefferson University, Hahnemann University, Pennsylvania Hospital, and the University of Pennsylvania.

She has also had extensive postgraduate training in laser medicine and in all aspects of nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. She is one of the leading injectors of neuromodulators such as Botox®, Xeomin® and others as well as the multitude of fillers, including Juvéderm®, Voluma®, Radiesse®, Belotero Balance®, and others.

Achieving and maintaining the skin’s health and beauty, Dr. Buck is board-certified in dermatology by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology (AOBD). The AOBD is an  organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the skin.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with medical, surgical and cosmetic aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases due to both internal and external causes and is trained to address cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include diagnosis and management of a variety of skin disorders, rashes, birthmarks, skin cancer screening and treatment, skin infections, cutaneous surgery and the use of injectables and lasers for skin rejuvenation.

An authority in her field, Dr. Buck remains active in teaching as an adjunct professor in dermatology. She has also presented numerous lectures at national dermatologic meetings and has won several awards for her presentations and expertise, including Patients’ Choice Award (2020), On-Time Doctor Award (2020), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2020).

On a more personal note, she has a beautiful married daughter and an adorable baby grandson. She loves riding in her jeep with the top down, going to flea markets and hunting for treasures, going to the beach, and working out (she tries to do so at least twice a week). She gives herself her own Botox injections (very carefully) and admits that while she embraces the many, many aspects of the aging process, she is “fighting” some of its physical and cosmetic aspects, as well.
