Get to know Pain Management and Addiction Medicine Physician Dr. J. Carvel Jackson, who serves patients in Mesa, Arizona. He has also served as Medical Director at Scottsdale Healthcare Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Jackson received his medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences in 1988. Thereafter, he completed his residencies with Stanford University School of Medicine and Mesa General hospital. Dr. Jackson is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning. Dr. Jackson also holds professional memberships with the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, as well as the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Jackson specializes in pain management and addiction medicine. Pain management is a branch of medicine that applies science to the reduction of pain. It covers a wide spectrum of conditions including neuropathic pain, sciatica, postoperative pain and more. Addiction medicine is a medical specialty that deals with the treatment of addiction. It often crosses over into other areas, since various aspects of addiction fall within the fields of public health, psychology, social work, mental health counseling, psychiatry, and internal medicine, among others. With his extensive expertise in the two specialities, Dr. Jackson aims to help patients whose health and functioning are affected by one or more disorders related to addiction.
