Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Angela M. Wimmer, who serves patients throughout the State of New Jersey.
Dr. Wimmer is a qualified and compassionate obstetrician-gynecologist who is a part of the team of professionals at Axia Women’s Health. She tends to patients at Contemporary Women’s Care at the offices in Kearny, West Orange, and Westfield, New Jersey.
Contemporary Women’s Care is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art obstetrics and gynecologic services to women. The staff of six board-certified physicians and over 25 well-trained administrative and clinical personnel specialize in serving women’s health care needs in a sensitive, considerate, and confidential environment. They use the latest advances in medicine to care for patients through each stage of their lives. They create a warm, caring environment where the patient is a partner in the management of her overall health issues, and they understand that women’s needs are unique and always changing.
Following the completion of her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Wimmer returned to her home state of New Jersey to pursue her medical education at UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She then completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
While trained in all facets of general OB/GYN, her particular areas of interest reside in pregnancy and premenopausal health. She feels privileged to manage a couple’s pregnancy and share in the moments from the first ultrasound to delivery. She is also able to assist with perimenopause, which requires a multidisciplinary approach utilizing medical and surgical knowledge to manage the hormonal sways that contribute to both emotional and physical changes, including abnormal uterine bleeding.
In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Affiliated with St. Barnabas Hospital and Clara Maass Medical Center, Dr. Wimmer has performed research in twin pregnancy. She is the recipient of “The Excellence in Patient Satisfaction Award”, Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015), and Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015).
