About

Dr. Torres is a proud native of San Antonio, TX. When he was a science teacher at his alma mater Harlandale Independent School District he quickly realized that he wanted to help people reach their maximal health potential and live the life they were destined to live. Not be struggling with health issues forever. At the time he was seeing his family struggle with health issues. He noticed that there was never an explanation for certain health issues and realized even more that there were no solutions or education being given to people that were struggling with health issues.

Seeing his mother struggle with chronic diseases such as diabetes, Granuloma Sarcoidosis and cardiac disease was all it took for Dr. Torres to make up his mind to be a part of this system that is not adequately serving people.

Dr. Torres began his education thinking that he wanted to contribute to health promotion through fitness. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise with an emphasis in Public Health. After personal training successfully and being featured in many editorials in San Antonio on fitness, he decided he wanted to learn more.

Being an athlete all his life and playing collegiate football led him to pursue his first doctoral degree in Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas. He has always been intrigued with the holistic mindset. As we all know that not one system works alone and many health issues are due to lifestyle choices. Chiropractic than introduced him to nutrition and the concept of Functional Medicine. He quickly was able to connect the dots in this healthcare puzzle and realized what was missing for patients. This is when he decided to get certified in Functional Medicine, Functional Blood Chemistry and Autoimmunity, Functional Brain Chemistry and Neurotransmitters. This approach really forges a relationship between the patient and the provider to help discover the root of their problem while modifying all the factors that have caused the issue to begin with.

While running a successful clinic in San Antonio, Dr. Torres felt that there was still that needed to be learned. That is when he decided to begin and complete Medical School as well at USAT College of Medicine. He did this to fully understand the shortfalls of why we are not better serving people.  Also, he wanted to learn from some of the best physicians in the united States. While finishing up medical school he was able to learn from some of the best doctors in the Mercy Hospital System in Iowa. Here, he was exposed to all facets of healthcare from Critical care to Family Medicine to Cardiology and Emergency Medicine. Dr. Torres is a an avid learner, and always looking for opportunities to help more people.

Dr. Torres has elected to hold off on Residency and Licensure in Medicine to finish his PhD which he will be completing this year. Dr. Torres is also proudly a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine, Functional Medicine University, American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the American College of Physicians.
