As your foot grows in length it will grow in width so you should wear try wearing shoes that are double wide and also 0.5-1 full size larger than normal to allow for extra room. Academically, Dr. Gelbmann graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with dual degrees in Molecular Biology and Biology before attending the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed an intense three-year surgical residency at one of Detroit’s largest and busiest hospitals, St. John Hospital and Medical Center.
While he was a resident, he performed 2-5 foot and ankle surgeries per day under the tutelage of Detroit’s best foot and ankle doctors. Following his residency, he moved to Vernon Hills, Illinois, and worked as an associate in private practice before settling in Chicago.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Physicians, the doctor is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and American Board of Podiatric Surgery, and board-qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is also certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support.
In his professional experience, he can be found on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Weiss Memorial Hospital. He has published several papers and is a three-time participant and author in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons Scientific Literature Review.
