Get to know one of the top professionals in medicine, Dr. Bernhard Tagwerker, who serves patients in California.
Originally from Austria, Dr. Tagwerker (“Dr Tag” as everyone calls him) combines science, expertise, experience, and clinical care from two worlds: Europe as well as the United States of America.
He graduated with his medical doctorate from the world-renowned Medical University of Vienna, Austria, where he had the honor to follow the science of some of the greatest historical figures in medicine such as the famous neurologist Sigmund Freud; the father of genetics Gregor Mendel; and the discoverer of the ABO-blood typing system, Carl Landsteiner.
Dr Tagwerker continued with postgraduate medical residency and graduated in the field of general medicine through the Austrian Medical Association. He subsequently received board certification in the European Union.
Moving to the United States, “Dr Tag” (already having passed both medical school as well as residency with success in Europe) faced and took upon himself the challenges of the medical education system of the United States. In order to get accreditation of his doctorate degree, he was required to pass the United States Medical Licensing Exams, basically a second round of medical school. After completion of these requirements, he got accepted to yet another prestigious institution, the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he did his second clinical residency in the field of Family Medicine and obtained his second board certification.
Overall, only very few postgraduate applicants from abroad pass these rigorous selection processes. Furthermore, only 10% of all positions for medical residency training are available to foreign medical graduates. Doctors from all over the world compete for these spots every year. Very few succeed.
Given his extensive education in medical science as well as his repeated international clinical training, it is not surprising that Dr Tag’s knowledge of the human body is outstanding.
Dr Tagwerker currently provides emergency medicine services as an independent physician for different clinics and emergency rooms in Southern California.
Moreover, he is not only a highly sought-after medical doctor but also a passionate and gifted musician who you might find performing in the music scene of greater Los Angeles.
