Back in 1983, Dr. Cave graduated with her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She also received her Master of Science degree in Clinical Chemistry from the same educational venue. 

Furthering her studies, she completed her residency in 1986, after which she served on the clinical faculty of the Department of Family Medicine of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP), Dr. Cave is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Furthermore, she is board-certified in functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine.
