With over 30 years of experience in his field, Dr. Paul S. Rooney, MBChB, FRCS, DM, is a colorectal surgeon currently serving his patients at The Department of Surgery of the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals in Liverpool, United Kingdom, which he joined in 1996. In order to provide his patients with the best care, Dr. Rooney holds expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, ileoanal pouch surgery, and crohn’s disease. His expertise includes anal and rectal cancer and intestinal failure surgery. To begin his career, Dr. Rooney earned his bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery degrees (MB ChB) in 1984 from The University of Sheffield in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom. From there, he completed his fellowship training in Toronto, ON, Canada, at Mount Sinai Hospital. In order to remain up to date with the latest medical advancements in his field, Dr. Rooney maintains a professional membership with the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland. On a more personal note, he attributes his success to his hard work, his passion for his subject, and his deep understanding of patients’ needs and fears. When he is not working, he enjoys playing golf.
