A Fellow of the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Zain Khalpey, M.D., PhD, FETCS, FACS is a cardiothoracic surgeon currently serving his patients at Northwest Primary & Specialty Care located in Tuscon, Arizona. To begin his career, Dr. Khalpey completed medical school at Guy’s, Kings & St Thomas Hospital, London School of Medicine and continued his training in the United States with his residency and fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston. Wanting to further his knowledge in the field, he completed his fellowship in mechanical circulatory support devices for advanced heart failure at Columbia University’s New York Presbyterian Hospital. Furthermore, Dr. Khalpey completed his PhD in Cardiothoracic Surgery, Bioenergetics and Cardiac Transplantation through the Imperial College UK in London. Board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery- Cardiac Surgery and the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr. Khalpey maintains a professional membership with the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, the American Academy and Board of Regenerative Medicine, the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons in order to stay up to date with the latest medical advancements in his field. As a testament to his success, he received the Distinguished Chair Award Medal from The Queen. On a more personal note, Dr. Khalpey attributes his success to his persistence and curiosity. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis.
