Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Mian Arshad Jan, who serves patients throughout the State of Pennsylvania.

A board-certified and fellowship-trained cardiologist, Dr. Jan is the President of West Chester Cardiology, and serves as Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital. He has extensive experience in interventional cardiology, including balloon angioplasty and coronary stenting.

West Chester Cardiology’s philosophy is to treat each patient as they would treat a member of their own family, personally and clinically. Their medical team stresses disease prevention through lifestyle modification and when appropriate with medication. If an invasive procedure is needed, they understand the importance of helping patients through rehabilitation to then return to their daily routine and responsibilities.

Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital is dedicated to the health and well-being of the people in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding areas. It offers an array of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services, including interventional heart and vascular services, open heart surgery, advanced spine surgery, general, orthopedic and oncology surgery, oncology, radiation oncology and comprehensive maternal/infant health services.

Beginning his professional pursuits by earning his medical degree from the Khyber Medical College in Pakistan in 1974, Dr. Jan relocated to the United States and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Lady Reading Hospital in 1984, and his residency in cardiovascular disease at the Temple University Hospital in 1987. Later, he completed his fellowship in interventional cardiology at the same educational venue in 2012.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Achieving fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angioplasty & Interventions (FSCAI).

Among his other roles, Dr. Jan can be found on staff at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Main Line Health System, Jennersville Regional Medical Center, and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital.

An avid humanitarian, he helped establish the William Darlington, MD Scholarship with the Chester County Medical Society, and the Mian A. Jan Scholarship, to benefit Pre-Med students at West Chester University. He also established a girls school and clean water tube wells in the village of Kangra, Pakistan with the help of his sister.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Jan has been the recipient of various honors and accolades, including the Top Doctor Award by Main Line Today, Top Docs Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, US World News and Report, and Castle Connolly Magazine. He has also been honored with the Citation for lifetime of achievements and his excellence in cardiology services by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Award for his achievements and for the services in cardiology to the people of Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Senate, and Certificate of Recognition for his outstanding service to the people of Chester County by the US Congress.
