Get to know Psychologist Dr. Quintin Bailey, who serves patients in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Bailey is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing at QGB Therapy, LLC. He currently offers in-person psychotherapy services for adults in the Austin, Texas area & telehealth services for trans and gender non-conforming adults throughout Texas.

His specializations include personality disorders, dissociative disorders, borderline personality disorder, multiplicity and plurality, relationship issues, ADHD assessments, eating disorders, identity development and integration, life transitions, grief, childhood trauma, and differential diagnosis assessments.

His primary theoretical orientation is psychodynamic, which means he believes in the unconscious and in the importance of being curious about the unique universe of every patient. Having worked primarily with folks with personality and dissociative disorders, Dr. Bailey has great empathy for the suffering from which these styles of relating to the world developed to survive.

Every treatment serves as a reminder to him that it is a privilege to sit with another and to witness their process of transformation. By connecting with their values and becoming grounded in the present, he has seen folks from a variety of diverse backgrounds and identity intersections increase their capacity to feel, understand, and integrate a range of emotional experiences and become curious about themselves and others.

“I value authenticity and a continued commitment to self-reflection and personal growth. I am comforted to know that the only constant is change, that the act of just sitting and being with another person has profound meaning and potential for healing. I have experienced the power of being witnessed, by others and by myself, in my own personal journey with meditation and spirituality. It is with this mindful reflection that I approach everything I do. It is my hope that this authentic enthusiasm and curiosity can spark in others curiosity about themselves, how they have come to be, and where they would like to go” expressed Dr. Bailey.

In regards to his educational background, he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Queer Studies from Mills College in 2016. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Psychology degree from The Wright Institute in 2021.

His undergraduate thesis proposed a theoretical extension of research on racism as a chronic stressor, and its subsequent impact on physical and psychological well-being, to understand transphobia as chronic stress. His dissertation explored the importance of the therapeutic alliance and the treatment frame when working with patients experiencing psychosis.

During grad school, Dr. Bailey worked at Portia Bell Hume in the partial hospitalization program, providing interpersonal process groups to adults with chronic mental health struggles and systemic stressors. As well, he provided long-term outpatient therapy to individuals with personality and dissociative disorders through the Pacific Center for Human Growth, the oldest LGBTQIA+ center in the Bay Area.

Throughout his predoctoral training within the Counseling and Mental Health Center at the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Bailey specialized in working within the transgender and gender non-conforming community and those experiencing multiplicity or plurality. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship supervised by Krista Jordan, PhD.

Among his professional affiliations, he is an active member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation & Austin Psychoanalytic.

Psychology is the science of behavior and mind. It includes the study of conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as feeling and thought. It is an academic discipline of immense scope. Psychologists assess, diagnose, and treat the psychological problems and behavioral dysfunctions resulting from, or related to, physical and mental health. In addition, they play a major role in the promotion of healthy behavior, preventing diseases and improving patients’ quality of life.
