Get to know Diagnostic Radiologist Dr. Jerrold H. Mink, who serves patients in California.

A nationally recognized expert in musculoskeletal imaging and an innovator in applications of magnetic resonance to musculoskeletal disorders, Dr. Mink is the Founder of Mink Radiologic Imaging. 

Mink Radiologic Imaging is a unique, specialized radiology practice with offices based in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and Marina del Rey, California. The customer service driven practice is designed to ensure that each patient receives the highest quality of care in a warm and comfortable setting.

It utilizes an advanced picture archiving communication system, Carestream PACS, which allows physicians to review patient diagnostic images and reports over the Internet. Referring physicians can also view their patients’ studies on the same system used by the radiologists, accessible anytime and anywhere on mobile or desktop platforms. The more collaboration between physicians and radiologists, the better the patient care is.

The Director of the Section on Bone Radiology at UCLA from 1975 to 1978, Dr. Mink subsequently assumed the positions of Director of Musculoskeletal Imaging and Director of Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles. He was honored with a full-time appointment to the Department of Radiology at UCLA for four years. 

Currently, he serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco.

Academically, Dr. Mink completed his undergraduate training at the University of Illinois, where he was a Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and was elected to AOA Honor Society. He then interned at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, California, and performed his residency in radiology at UCLA Center for the Health Sciences in Los Angeles, California.

A Fellow of the American College of Radiology, Dr. Mink is a member of the California Medical Association, the California Radiological Society, the North American Spine Society, and the International Spinal Injection Society. He has also been invited to speak at major orthopedic meetings including the North America Arthroscopy Association, the American Academy of Sports Medicine, and the Western Orthopedic Association

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology, which is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

Dr. Mink’s academic accomplishments are well known to the radiologic, orthopedic, and rheumatologic communities. He is the author of five major textbooks on musculoskeletal imaging. In addition, he has written 22 textbook chapters and more than 70 original articles in peer-reviewed journals. He currently is a reviewer for manuscripts submitted to Radiology, Clinical Orthopedics, and Arthroscopy.

The first of the five textbooks he has authored, MRI of the Knee, was published in 1987 and remains the benchmark work in the field. Virtually all fundamental principles and criteria for MR diagnoses of knee disorders were established in this publication.

Diagnostic radiology refers to the field of medicine that uses non-invasive imaging scans to diagnose a patient. A diagnostic radiologist is a physician who uses imaging methodologies to diagnose and manage patients and provide therapeutic options.
