Harmohina M. Bagga, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who lends her skills and expertise to serve patients at Eye Medical Clinic in San Jose, CA, which she joined in 2018. She has also completed over 10,000 cataract surgeries, including laser-assisted cataract surgery, multifocal, and toric implants. A distinguished leader in her field, Dr. Bagga was the first surgeon in Arizona to perform the iStent procedure for glaucoma and one of the first two surgeons in the United States to implant the Tecnis Toric Lens.
Dr. Bagga began her extensive academic career in India, earning her medical degree, training in Ophthalmology and completing a Fellowship in Glaucoma. Wanting to further her education, she relocated to the United States where she completed a three year Fellowship in Glaucoma at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, Florida. She published several landmark publications on technology for early detection of Glaucoma, which have since been integrated as standard of care in Glaucoma treatment. She then completed an additional residency within the Department of Ophthalmology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, and a Glaucoma fellowship at the Shiley Glaucoma Center at the University of California, San Diego – the leading glaucoma and ophthalmology program in the nation.
A member of the American Glaucoma Society, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, she is board-certified in Ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO).
Dr. Bagga is actively involved in clinical research and has authored numerous publications. She has lectured nationally and internationally, and served as an investigator in numerous clinical trials, including the innovative, minimally invasive surgeries for treatment of glaucoma. Recognized as a Top Ophthalmologist representing San Jose, Dr. Bagga is featured on the 2019/2020 Top Doctors Magazine list, a nationally syndicated publication.
She is currently a member of the Eye Medical Clinic team in San Jose, California. She joined Eye Medical Clinic in 2018, which has been faithfully serving the San Jose area for more than 70 years and has a solid reputation for excellence in advanced vision services. Dr. Bagga has quickly become a popular choice for patients in the community, not only for her extensive expertise and surgical skills, but also her genuine care and compassion for those she serves.
In her spare time, Dr. Bagga enjoys the company of family and friends, going on hikes, and cultivating her artistic nature through painting. In addition to English, she also speaks Hindi and Punjabi.
