A Compassionate Family Physician Making a Difference in Orono, Maine

A highly esteemed family physician at Tapestry Health in Orono, Maine, Dr. Mayfield is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to individuals and families in the community. With a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to patient well-being, she has established himself as a trusted healthcare professional in the region.

Pertaining to her educational pursuits, she received her medical degree and completed her residency in family medicine at the East Tennessee State University in 1993 and 1995, respectively. Previously, she received her Master of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University in 1988, and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mars Hill University in 1986. 

As a testament to her success, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine and hospice & palliative care by the American Board of Family Medicine, and is a proud member of various prestigious professional organizations such as The Society for Post Acute and Long Term Care Medicine, the American Geriatrics Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Greater New England Society for Post-Acute and Long Term Care Medicine.

In addition to her clinical practice, she is dedicated to educating future healthcare professionals. She served as a Geriatric Preceptor at the University of New England’s Physician Assistant Program from 2016 to 2017, imparting her wealth of knowledge and experience to the next generation of providers.

Throughout her career, Dr. Mayfield has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field of medicine. She has received numerous accolades, including the Chief Resident title at ETSU’s Bristol Family Practice from 1994 to 1995, the Mead Johnson Award for Graduate Education in Family Practice in 1994, and the Burroughs Wellcome Family Practice Resident Scholar award in the same year. 

When she’s not in the office, she enjoys indulging in her favorite hobbies, which include birding, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Her love for the outdoors is further exemplified by her  preference for vacationing in the serene landscapes of Prince Edward Island.
