Get to know Family Practitioner and Wound Care Specialist Dr. Hubert Watty, who presently practices and serves patients on the island of St. Croix in the U.S Virgin Islands.
Dr. Watty is a seasoned family practitioner and wound care specialist at Agapé Wellness Center & Wound Care, LLC on St. Croix in the U.S Virginia Islands. He is the son of a lifetime educator his mother ( Muriel Francis ). Dr. Watty has recently launched his health care clinic dedicated exclusively to primary care family medicine and wound care. He provides back-to-school physical exams, on-site on-site laboratory testing including diabetic testing, urine testing, on – site coumadin testing and others. The facility also does seasonal infectious disease testing such as: pneumonia and seasonal flu and rapid COVID – 19 testing. Pneumonia and seasonal flu vaccinations is also available. Pre-employment physical exams, prostate cancer screenings for men, weight loss program, well-female exams (pap smears and mammograms), and has a very robust and much sort after wound care services. He is fully licensed to practice medicine in the U.S Virgin Islands as well as the U.S mainland where he currently hold active licenses in the states of California and Oklahoma. Dr. Watty is also affiliated with the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital ( JFL ) where he has courtesy priviledges.
Born on the island of Dominica in the West Indies, Dr. Watty grew up on the Island of St. Croix as a child in U.S Virgin Islands, where he received his formative education. Following the completion of his magna cum laude undergraduate education at Florida Memorial College, Dr. Watty attended Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, and obtained his medical degree in 1996. While a Commissioned Officer in the US Army, he conducted his family medicine residency at the New York Medical College and St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, NY (1997-2000). Dr. Watty then went to serve several active duty tours with the US Army, including Germany, Fort Riley Kansas, and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003). He has accrued multiple medals and commendations while on active duty.
Subsequent to his education and training, Dr. Watty received board certification in family medicine through the American Board of Family medicine (ABFM) and has been board certified for 21 years. The American Board of Family Medicine is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. A credentialed Laboratory Director, he has carried out this challenging duty at his practices for over 15 years.
Following the completion of his service with the U.S. Army, Dr. Watty did contract Locum Tenens work at several facilities which provided much valuable experience practicing medicine many different locals and settings: including tropical medicine, practicing on Native Americans reservations, in cities and rural areas. He eventually launched his private practice in 2005 where he served as owner, medical director, and lead family physician for more than a decade. Dr. Watty was not only responsible for training and supervising other health care professionals (nurses, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, medical students, medical assistants and others), but he was also had the pleasure and responsibility of providing care to the entire family of all ages.

And I have been exposed to a vast array of health conditions and illnesses”, says Dr. Watty.
