Valerie Watiker, MD, FACMGG, is a board-certified medical geneticist with over 20 years of specialized experience in pediatrics and genetics. She has maintained a private pediatric practice in West Los Angeles, along with an adult and pediatric consultative genetics practice, offering her expertise both privately and at several major institutions.

Dr. Watiker is known for her commitment to providing top-tier healthcare while educating her patients about their genetic health and overall well-being. She is dedicated to accessibility in healthcare, offering home visits for families in the greater Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley areas, as well as telemedicine appointments. This innovative approach allows Dr. Watiker to reach a broader patient base, ensuring that individuals and families receive the expert genetic evaluations they need from the comfort of their own homes.

Originally from Zanesville, Ohio, Dr. Watiker pursued her academic journey through Albion College in Michigan, followed by earning her Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Her career began at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where her experiences as a genetic counselor ignited her passion for medicine. This led her to the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where she earned her Medical Degree.  She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics and medical genetics at Cedars Sinai and UCLA Intercampus Program, and then went on to achieve board certification from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in 2007.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Watiker holds esteemed positions at many medical centers, including  Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and UC Irvine. Her dedication to her field is reflected in her active memberships with the American Medical Association and her status as a Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics.

Dr. Watiker attributes her success to her unwavering passion for genetics and her role as a patient advocate. In her free time, she enjoys family activities with her pets, swimming, and hiking, finding balance in her personal and professional life.
