Are you sitting or lying down during cataract surgery?
You are usually laying down on an adjustable bed. If you have back or neck issues, the beds can be adjusted to keep you comfortable. The surgery requires you to lay still for 20 minutes or less. Given that it is microscopic surgery, it is important to be comfortable and lay still. Your surgeon and the surgical team will ensure you are comfortable laying down prior to surgery. READ MORE
Why is my vision blurry with cataracts?
When we are younger, the lens of our eyes is clear. As we age, the proteins in the lens change and the lens get cloudier. A cloudy lens is called a cataract. So when we look out through a cloudy lens, things will appear blurry. As the light goes through the cloudy lens or cataract, the light gets scattered and makes things blurry. Fortunately, it is treatable. Cataract surgery involves removing the cloudy lens or cataract and replacing it with a new lens. The new lenses all have prescriptions so we are able to correct your vision at the time of cataract surgery. If your vision is limiting your ability to do things, you should be evaluated by an Ophthalmologist near you. READ MORE
How long does it take to completely heal from cataract surgery?
Everyone is different. Most people find vision a little blurry right after surgery but each day it gets clearer and clearer. If it was an uncomplicated and routine cataract surgery, most people are seeing clearly within a week. If you have other issues with your eyes such as dry eyes, retina or corneal issues, it may take longer for your vision to recover. Your Ophthalmologist will follow you and ensure that you are healing well and that there are no other issues. READ MORE
