Can a chiropractor help with sciatic nerve pain during pregnancy?
Chiropractor is the best doctor to see for sciatica during pregnancy. Your ligaments become lax/looser than they need to be to accommodate the growing fetus. There are a lot more opportunities for joints in the lower back and the SI joints to become misaligned and aggravate local nerves. Muscles in the lower back and the pelvis become very tight due to postural changes, as well as because they compensate for the laxity in the ligaments. The sciatic nerve in this case may be affected at the piriformis, or any other muscle it passes through. READ MORE

Why does my back crack so much during an adjustment?
The cracking sound that comes with the adjustment is a CO2 gas being released as the joint moves. It feels good because there are endorphants that are released as well as there is a decrease of pressure inside the joint. Result is less pain, greater range of motion and muscle relaxation. You can read more about cracking sounds here: http://www.chirohealthsf.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=432&action=edit READ MORE
Back exercises after adjustments?
Hello. This is a great question for your chiropractor who should of given you instructions before you left the office. There are great foam rolling exercises and ball exercises for lower back on our website, www.chirohealthsf.com, video tab. I would recommend you start with the foam roller for a week and then incorporate the ball. Please be sure to follow the instructions on the video carefully. You may be sore the first time, and will need to ice after you complete the exercises for 20 minutes. When you see your chiropractor on the next visit make sure you ask her/him if there are any restrictions she/he may want you to follow. Hope you feel better. READ MORE
Is it bad to suddenly stop chiropractic care?
After 5 years of chiropractic care you should know how to maintain your adjustments. You should also have been instructed on the exercises that you need to do. At this stage I recommend that you continue with your maintenance visits with your chiropractor every 4-6 weeks. It will be worth keeping the benefits, and it should not be financially prohibitive hopefully. READ MORE
