Dr. Karin is an experienced otolaryngologist who, since 1990, has worked at the very highly regarded Ear, Nose & Throat of Los Gatos office, now a member of University Health Alliance of Stanford Medicine.  He treats all ages of patients from newborns to adults, and provides outstanding medical care. 

With 30+ years of surgical expertise in numerous areas, the doctor specializes in advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, septoplasty, head and neck cancer, thyroid surgery, snoring, sleep apnea, and voice disorders. In the pediatric age group, the most common procedures he performs are tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and ear tube placement. His philosophy is to provide the most advanced techniques with a compassionate and caring attitude to help his patients with their ear, nose, and throat disorders.

Ear, Nose and Throat of Los Gatos offers all services under one roof (exams, procedures, audiology, hearing aid services, CT scan). With a full range of ENT related services, diagnostic tools, audiology, hearing aid dispensing, VNG, mini CT scanner, videostroboscopy, patients have access to an all-encompassing range of cutting edge providers, services, and facilities. The team of physicians offer all general ENT services with special areas of expertise in endoscopic sinus surgery, pediatric otolaryngology, and neurotology. 

Possessing a solid educational background, Dr. Karin graduated with his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 1983. Furthering his education, he performed his internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 1984, and his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 1989 with additional training in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, he is board-certified through the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is an active member of the American Rhinologic Society.  The non-profit corporation serves the public by assuring that diplomates meet our standards of training, knowledge and professionalism through initial and continuing certification.

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Otolaryngologists, also known as ear, nose, and throat doctors, specialize in disorders of the head and neck, ranging from hearing loss to cancer. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Karin is married to Dr. Mardi Karin, Associate Professor of Surgery at Stanford Hospital. He enjoys spending time with his family and mountain biking in the local area.
