When surgery is indicated, the Naples area orthopedic surgeons bring years of experience in the surgical treatment of shoulder disorders ranging from arthroscopic procedures to major shoulder reconstructive surgery. They use state-of-the art techniques in treating all aspects of sports, degenerative, and traumatic conditions.
Following the completion of his Master of Science degree in Microbiology & Cell Science at the University of Florida in 2003, Dr. Joyner went on to embark on his medical journey. He obtained his medical degree from the Penn State College of Medicine in 2007, graduating #1 in his medical class.
Wanting to further his training, he performed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center in 2012, followed by his fellowship at the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 2013.
As for his sports medicine team coverage, Dr. Joyner is an attending physician at Palmetto Ridge and Immokalee High School (2017 – present), the Co-Chair of the Armed Forces Sports Advisory Council (2016 – present), and the Co-Head of the Physician Team USA – International ( 2016 – present).
Demonstrating an outstanding commitment to his field, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. He is also a Certified Expert Knee & Shoulder Arthroscopist through the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
To advance his efforts, Dr. Joyner remains a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (Fellow), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (Associate Member), the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Piedmont Orthopedic Society, the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons, the Kuentscher Society, the Southern Orthopedic Association, the Florida Orthopedic Association, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and the Alpha Chi Honor Society.
