An ultrasound for your thyroid is more appropriate for general thyroid screening!

Yes, just check your creatinine level and drink plenty of fluid.
Does a pulmonary embolism show up on a CT scan?
Yes, you have to administer contrast intravenously to diagnose it. It is not a simple lung CT though it is a dedicated scan of your arteries called a CTA for pulmonary emboli.
How long does a CT scan for sinus take?
about 45 minutes max including check-in, setup and scan. The scan itself is only about 5 minutes.

You should get an MRI of your prostate not a CT. CT is not very sensitive for diagnosing prostate problems including cancer.
