6. Stretching Exercises

Stretching the sore and stiff muscles is also an effective method to help fibromyalgia patients. Experts suggest on doing this exercise at least once a day. The secret is to move the muscles gently in order to avoid any pains that may be caused by the disease. Holding the stretching position for a minute will also do the trick. This exercise can help with the patient’s flexibility and improves their range of motion. Some stretching exercises that can be followed are listed below:

  • Overhead stretch–This is initially done by raising both hands and straightening it up over the head. Using one hand, the wrist should be grabbed by the opposite hand and gently pulling it to one side.
  • Neck Roll–Starting off by relaxing the neck and shoulders, the right ear should be dropped to the right shoulder. This should be followed by gently rolling the head forward to the other side.
  • Shoulder Stretch–This is done by bringing the right elbow over the left shoulder. This should be followed by placing the left hand behind the right elbow, and the elbow should be gently pulled toward the body.
  • Forward Flex–This stretching exercise should be done by slowly bending forward with both feet on the floor. With this, you should be able to reach your ankles.
