There are different ways that antibiotics get administered too - and believe it or not, it matters. The way you take your drug affects the way it changes the bacteria populations in your colon. Antibiotics you take by mouth sometimes don't get completely absorbed and end up in the large intestine. On the other hand, antibiotics that you get through an I.V. get secreted in the bile and end up in the large intestine.
