Can Ayurvedic Medicine Help Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Patients?

How the Ayurvedic world views fibromyalgia and CFS: Forces between water, air, fire and ether

Fibromyalgia and CFS have compromised digestion conditions, which in Ayurvedic is known as Agni and Ama. Agni refers to an imbalanced digestive system and Ama refers to the undigested food and toxins that form.  When Ama is present, it causes digestive problems such as pain, gas, bloating, constipation or diarrhea. It typically rises from your gut, moves into your bloodstream and causes obstructions in your bloodflow. This ultimately stops the natural flow of nutrients, hormones, and wastes, which causes issues with absorption.

In addition to digestive problems, the Vata and Pitta doshas, in the Ayurvedic world, are also aggravated. Respectively, Vata and Pitta refer to the air/ether and fire/water intelligence in your body, and doshas are the forces that make up your physiology.  Doshas determine your growth, aging, health, and disease. With fibromyalgia and CFS, the Vata and Pitta Doshas are imbalanced and this causes pain, stiffness, fatigue and other symptoms in your body.
