Coping Strategies for Ovarian Cancer Patients and Families

Join a support group

Some women find ovarian cancer support groups to be helpful. In these groups, family members and loved ones meet to talk about ovarian cancer experiences, treatment, and coping with the disease in a safe and supportive environment. Joining a support group is a great opportunity for you to meet and talk openly about cancer with others who are going through or who have been through a similar experience. Being able to share may help you to feel less stressed and overwhelmed, as well as more optimistic about the future.

If you do not feel comfortable joining a support group, other types of one-on-one support are available by telephone, on the internet, or even with social workers. Considering one of these options can help you to cope with cancer in terms of both physical and emotional challenges.
