Muscular Dystrophy Was Not a Barrier for Maickel Melamed to Finish Boston Marathon
Maickel Melamed: An inspiration for everyone
Melamed crossed the finish line on Boylston Street accompanied by the cheering supporters. The marathon started Monday, and he finished by very early Tuesday morning around 4:30 AM, almost 20 hours after the start of the race.
As acknowledgment for what he did, he reaped a reward of praises from those who have seen him. Moreover, the Boston Athletic Association presented him with a medal. He was awarded by Mayor Martin J. Walsh.
Many were inspired by what Melamed did. Despite the strong wind, heavy downpour of rain and the cold temperature, he was able to finish the marathon. As for his achievement, Michael said that the whole city was helpful and loving, giving him the strength to finish the race amidst the obstacles.
