Obesity is a known risk factor for hypertension and there is a dose-response relationship between the severity of OSA and hypertension, regardless of obesity. Hypertension is associated with an increased risk of developing several life-threatening diseases such as cardiovascular disease and stroke, and factors related to obesity, such as diabetes. Physical inactivity is also known to result in increased cardiovascular risk.
