Anxiety May Heighten Social Communication Challenges in Autism
Providing support can make all the difference
The way that anxiety manifests itself and the way that it is expressed is based on each individual’s ability to communicate, as well as their sensory processing skills. It is important that those who support individuals with autism are aware of the challenges associated with anxiety, and that they learn the best approaches to providing the type of support that is truly helpful. Through a multi-faceted approach, the most appropriate interventions can be determined, thus allowing individuals with autism to move past their fears, to cope, and to trust that they are in good hands.
