So how does one cope with ultra-sensitivity to noise? One possible solution is to wear earbuds or headphones (when able to) while listening to soft music. This might create a bit of distraction from the sound that might trigger the onset of more symptoms. Also, a situations that present an excessive amount of noise can be avoided if possible. Another idea is to wear ear protection if it doesn’t pose a safety issue due to the necessity of being alert to any other sounds.
