Man with Alzheimer's Hikes the Same Mountain Every Day

Sian Jair had no family or support group to help him with his challenges

At one point, Jair might have thought of his daily hikes as challenges, but he quickly got over it.  As he battled one medical setback after another with no support, he learned that this mountain provided him with the release he needed. He was able to escape his stress for two hours and challenge himself to reach the top.

Today, it’s the same thing but he is slightly more realistic about the benefits he gets.  He explains, “I got over this business of going up a mountain for a challenge years ago. I just do it because I enjoy it. I do it because it’s familiar, and particularly when you’ve got Alzheimer’s, you need something that’s familiar.”
