The Potential for Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

Early treatment is essential

Identifying MS in childhood could allow for early intervention and the potential for more effective treatment regimens. This is important because MS can have a huge effect on school, social, and family outcomes in children. Hardiman says that there are children who come into the pediatric service and are then transferred to adult care after they turn 18. Being able to effectively treat them in childhood, could change the course of the disease for them in adulthood.
