Technetium Tc 99m medronate injection is a radiopharmaceutical used in imaging studies of bone integrity and function. This drug is to be given only by or under the direct supervision of a healthcare professional with specialized training in nuclear medicine.

Infant risk is undetermined in studies of using this drug during breastfeeding. Weigh the potential benefits against the potential risks before taking this medication while breastfeeding.

Drugs should not be taken together to prevent any interactions but in necessary cases inquire your healthcare provider regarding the adjustments in dosage or any other necessary precautions to prevent any unwanted side effects. 3 Proper Usage

A trained healthcare professional is the only one allowed to give you this drug. This drug is given intravenously before a bone scan. Increase in fluid intake is recommended to facilitate faster excretion of this drug through the urine.

5 Potential Side Effects

Side effects may vary for each individual and prompt medical attention should be given if they occur.

Inform you healthcare provider if you experience unusual symptoms such as cold, clammy skin, confusion, cough, difficulty swallowing, dizziness, fast heartbeat, fast, weak pulse, hives or welts, itching, lightheadedness, puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, rash, redness of the skin, shortness of breath, sweating tightness in the chest, unusual tiredness or weakness, wheezing, chills, difficult or labored breathing, fever, heart stops no breathing, no pulse or blood pressure, seizures, and unconsciousness.

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine, the side effects will slowly disappear. Ask your healthcare professional about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
