1 What is Limbrel?

Limbrel is a medical food. It is used in the treatment of osteoarthritis and associated swelling.

It will not help in curing the disease but works by reducing the swelling and providing pain relief.

It may also be used for other condition as determined by your doctor. It is available in the form of capsules.

2 What to Know Before Using

If you are about to start Limbrel, speak with your doctor about what you need to know.

Before starting the treatment your doctor should be informed about conditions, such as:

Allergy: Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any food, preservatives, dyes, or had an allergic reaction when you used this drug before.

Children: It is not recommended for children under 18 year of age as it may have harmful side effects.

Elderly: This medicine does not cause any different side effects or problem than it does in younger adults.

Breastfeeding: There are no adequate studies which prove that Flavocoxid passes into breast milk. Do not breast-feed while you are using this medicine.

Drug Interactions: Flavocoxid interacts with many drugs. It should not be used with several drugs.

Your doctor should be informed of any other medicine which you are taking so that he may adjust the dosage.

Some of these drugs are Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (e.g., Ibuprofen, Celecoxib) because the risk of ulcers or stomach bleeding or perforation may be increased.

Other Medical Problem: Several other conditions may reduce its effectiveness. Stomach ulcer may get worse by Flavocoxid.

3 Proper Usage

To use Limbrel properly, you must follow all instructions given by your doctor.

Flavocoxid should be used as directed by your doctor. It should be taken by mouth on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or after eating.

Dosage: Drug dose is different based on body weight. You should follow your doctor’s direction. The following information is an average dose of this drug.

For oral dosage forms:

  • Adults: 250 milligrams (mg) every 12 hours.
  • Children: Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.
  • Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

4 Precautions to Take

Before using Limbrel, there are some precautions you must take.

Flavocoxid contains zinc. If you start any other medicine with Flavocoxid, make sure it does not have zinc in it too. If it does or if you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.

It should not be used by children younger than 18-year-old. Safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.

Storage: Store it at room temperature. Keep it away from children
