General Practitioner Questions Blood

ALT and SGPT

Although my blood labs have indicated issues in regard to A1C and Glom/Filter Rate, my ALT/SGPT has always been within normal range--averaging (over the past 5-6 years) around 19.

However, the ALT/SGPT number recorded on my last lab, 103 (in mid September), is more than double the high end of a normal ALT/SGPT reading.

I have no symptoms of liver disease (as listed in Web M.D.)--and am wondering what might contribute to such an "out of the blue" high reading?

It is mot likely an aberration. Such things happen. You should get it checked, or, if you have no symptoms, just forget about it.
