Most children with fever have a minor viral infection.  I would call your doctor's office and ask to speak with the nurse for advice and to see if other symptoms would warrant an office visit.
To know if your child has a fever you must first measure his/her temperature correctly and use a digital thermometer in the armpit. No other location. A fever is a temperature above 100.4 Fahrenheit or above 38 centigrade. Fever isn't dangerous, but knowing what is causing the fever is the important thing. Your pediatrician can examine your child and then make a diagnosis.
