Endocrinology, Diabetes Questions

Blacking out

So I have type 1 diabetes and I know I’m not the best at taking care of it. However, today I woke up after my lunch break and thought I was dreaming. I didn’t remember coming home from work or falling asleep. Everyone at work and home told me I’d been acting really weird before my 20 minute nap. I can’t remember the past 3 hours and when I checked my BS I wasn’t low or high at all. I feel completely fine just very confused. No I don’t do drugs, I didn’t drink anything, and I didn’t eat anything from crazy to sane to make my BS go up if it was in fact low. The one thing I can think of is the last time I was really low (bs was 34, this was days ago) maybe this is a lasting affect or I damaged something…I don’t know.

The cause of your mental status change is not related to the glucose levels. Having a low glucose reaction days ago should not cause the episode you described. One possibility is the glucose may have been low at the time of the episode and your body corrected the glucose level on its own and so when it was checked the level was fine. If you have not already done so; I recommend that you look into a continuous glucose sensor.
