Cardiologist Questions

Blood Pressure Inquiry

I'm 23 years old guy. I once tried to donate my blood to one of my cousins but unfortunately I couldn't. I was told that my blood pressure was high of 150/80. I relaxed for sometime and it reduced to 140/80 even though I was still anxious because it was my first time. I couldn't donate. Since that day, I've been thinking about it because I don't know if I could be in the normal range. I have bought the blood pressure cuff to check personally but anytime I put it on my left arm, I still feel anxious hence my heart starts beating fast so I'm not able to get the accurate readings.
About 2 to 3 weeks ago I'm feeling some lightedness. I've even reduced my food quantity. Please could you provide any advice to help me recover from all these problems. I would be very grateful for your feedback.

Good afternoon,

Yes your BP readings are higher than normal, and it is possible that this could be contributing to your symptoms. It’s not so much quantity but what you are taking in that I would advise to modify. I would start off with staying away from salty and spicy foods, and cutting back on caffeine intake and stress levels in your life. And setting up an appointment ASAP with a primary care doctor. Best of luck and hope you feel better.
