Bowel difficulties with muscular dystrophy

73 year old male with advancing limb girdle MD. Stools are always watery and suffers from constipation . Very limited mobility at this time. Should he be on laxatives and miralax?

Watery diarrhea at the same time as "constipation" requires some explanation.
I can only guess, but there might be stool impaction with overflow diarrhea. Check an xray and do a rectal exam to see if there is impacted stool. If this is the case then it needs to be cleared out then stay on a long term daily bowel regimen with laxatives.
