Cataract Surgery

I’ve had cataract surgery on both eyes over the past two weeks and now have very high blood pressure. I’ve had high blood pressure for many years and take lisinopril to control the blood pressure.

Could possibly be related to the steroid eye drops used after the surgery.
Make sure you hold pressure over the tear ducts in the nasal portion of the eyelids after you put in the drops for at least one minute to keep it from getting as much into the bloodstream. Hopefully within a week or so of being off the drops it will return to pre-surgery levels.
Generally, neither cataract surgery itself nor the mild anesthesia used during the procedure cause any blood pressure afterwards. I would check with your primary care doctor or cardiologist to see what may be causing your spike in BP.
I am not sure what your question is. If your blood pressure is up since the surgery, you should not hesitate to bring that problem to the attention of your primary care physician who is treating your blood pressure.
Elevated blood pressure would not be related to cataract surgery. It is common to discover that people have uncontrolled or poorly controlled BP when they have their cataract surgery because it is being monitored closely during the procedure. I would recommend that you visit your primary care provider as soon as possible or visit the ER if extremely high.
