Food Allergies

What food allergies are most likely to cause mucus in the stool and diarrhea (mushy x 11 yesterday in spite of taking some old diphenoxylate with atropine?
Every 2 years, I go through a bout of this. The last 2 times they did a colonoscopy without finding and reason for the problem , but within 3 weeks after that it had ceased.

Well, you are assuming these symptoms are secondary to food allergies, which may not be the case. It could be a gastroenteritis (stomach flu), IBS, lactose intolerance, amongst other things.However, the most common food allergens are usually eggs, soy, dairy, wheat, seafood/shellfish, and nuts.Be well. Food allergies do not cause mucus in stools. Internal hemorrhoids are a common explanation and maybe these were seen on the colonoscopies but were not mentioned to you.
