See an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle.
That is a difficult question to answer without me personally examining your ankle. The best answer I can give you is to make an appointment to see an Orthopaedic surgeon and get your ankle evaluated. The doctor will figure out the cause of your pain and treat it. Hope it helps!!
There are many causes of ankle pain. Chronic ankle pain can be a result of primary or secondary osteoarthritis. Secondary osteoarthritis could be a result of recurrent ankle sprains in the remote past, or chronic inflammatory conditions, to name a few. The best is to see a general orthopedic surgeon or an orthopedic surgeon with foot and ankle subspecialty training. These physicians have either an MD or DO degree. They will take an accurate history, do a comprehensive examination, and will most likely take X-rays to help determine the cause of the pain and formulate a treatment plan that is best suited to your personal activity level and functional goals.
Ankle pain can be caused by several conditions. Some include sprains, strains, tendinitis, arthritis, fractures, vascular and neurologic conditions. It important for a clinician to obtain a good history, perform a proper physical exam, and get adequate imaging or testing to arrive to a proper diagnosis. The treatment of ankle pain is dependent on the diagnosis.
the answer to your post is it depends on the root cause of the pain, the root cause has to be treated before the pain can go away.
I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for diagnosis and treatment options
That is completely dependent on what is causing your ankle pain. Ankle pain may be caused by contusions, fractures, tendon issues, ligament issues, nerve issues, arthritic conditions, etc. You must have your ankle evaluated to find out what is causing your pain. Once you have a correct diagnosis, then the problem may be addressed
See a qualified musculoskeletal physician to diagnose and treat.
